Responsibilities

The Event Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of Historic Properties events.  The Event Coordinator provides direction to all personnel, internal and external to Mayo Clinic, associated with each event.  The incumbent performs duties independently and uses independent judgment in handling a variety of programmatic issues.  Duties include on-site implementation of day and evening events, confirmation of event set up details, greeting guests, set up and operation of standard audio-visual equipment, conducting tours and presenting the history of the Historic Properties to guests individually and in large group settings.  The incumbent is accountable for event execution and closure.  Plans ahead to ensure that staff and equipment are available for future functions.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.  Demonstrated leadership abilities with three years' experience in event management, event planning or hospitality industry experience preferred.  Previous experience in banquet and catering management at a facility specializing in fine dining such as a fine hotel or private club preferred.  At least two years of supervisory/management experience is preferred.  
Knowledge of Mayo Clinic and its history and experience working with a variety of professionals (physicians, scientists, administrative staff) is desired.  Excellent interpersonal, public relations, communications and organizational skills are required.  Must be self-motivated, energetic individual who conducts themselves in a highly professional manner.

The Event Coordinator will be responsible to work a balance of both day and evening shifts across all five Historic Properties locations. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of our colleagues, guests, and their events.
Weekend Schedule
Weekend events for the Historic Properties are limited; our standard operations occur Monday through Friday.
