Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Agile Coach to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • The individual will be a Scrum Master for an area practicing SAFe Agile. 
  • The Scrum Master serves as a servant leader and coach for the Agile team, helping to ensure that the team follows Agile principles, facilitates team events like daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, and removes any impediments blocking the team's progress.
  • They will play a role in larger, cross-team coordination.
  • They help integrate their team’s work into the broader Program Increment (PI) planning, which involves multiple teams working together in a synchronized manner.
  • They also participate in PI planning events, work with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to coordinate dependencies and support the team in aligning with the program's goals and objectives.
  • Their focus extends beyond individual team dynamics to also contributing to the overall success of the Agile Release Train (ART), which is a key structure in SAFe that aligns multiple teams around a common mission.
  • The Agile Coach will ensure teams live the agile values and principles and can coach on industry best practices that lead to agility.
  • This person will work with a cohort of other Agile Coaches to develop fit for purpose models for groups and support new and existing agile teams across the client.
  • They will have a strong orientation toward action, and an intellectual and practitioner curiosity to explore the "what if's".
  • Ideally, they have already schooled themselves on the basics or advanced levels of agility, recognizing the capability goes well beyond tools.
  • Specific responsibilities include: Ensure team vision, goals, scope, KPI's, and the product domains are identified for the agile team.
  • Train teams and establishing skills that allow for the enterprise-wide adoption of business agility framework.
  • Educate various roles and levels of people on agile principles, provide training sessions, and teach skills the lead towards organizationwide adoption of agile methodologies.
  • Provide team members with feedback and coach to advance maturity.
  • Develop and provide training on Agile-Lean practices.
  • Proactively work with a cohort of Agile coaches, trainers, and Agile CoP’s and CoE’s to co-develop continuous process improvement initiatives to education colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Provide tools to help reduce waste and drive improvement.
  • Self-starter with Consultant Mentality - Need to be able to coach and guide.

Skills:

  • SAFe Agile Experience required
  • SAFe Scrum Master experience required
  • Experience with Azure DevOps preferred but not required
  • SAFe Scrum Master Certification or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) is required. SAFe Scrum Master Certification is the preference.
  • Strong business acumen and advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle and methodologies.
  • Lean-Agile methodologies, practices, and tools (i.e. Azure DevOps/Jira).
  • Proven knowledge of the application of Agile at scale and demonstrated ability to coach and lead the cultural and organizational change to make it work – SAFe or LeSS.
  • Previous experience in Product Ownership or Scrum Master
    Knowledge and experience in two or more Agile or Lean frameworks – Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Lean Six Sigma, Extreme Programming.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 3-5 years as an active Agile Coach.
  • 8 years of experience on an Agile Team.  
  • Track record within Healthcare industry supporting agile teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and to deliver effective presentations to a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and facilitating discussions to explore the best possible solutions.
  • The ability to lead and inspire with imagination, courage, and curiosity.
  • Strong business acumen and advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle and methodologies.
  • Previous experience in Product Ownership or Scrum Master.
  • Knowledge and experience in two or more Agile or Lean frameworks - Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Lean Six Sigma, Extreme Programming.
  • 3 years of experience with Agile Management tools Jira/Azure DevOps.
