Position Summary

The Event Coordinator is responsible for assisting with marketing efforts for the Norman and Shawnee Casinos. The Event Coordinator will assist the Marketing Director with promotions, events, advertising, and all aspects of Marketing. This role is essential in planning and executing engaging events, including VIP experiences, anniversary celebrations, and casino promotions—while ensuring brand consistency across all marketing channels. Additionally, this position will be key in promoting events through social media, strengthening our brand presence, and enhancing guest engagement. The Event Coordinator will work hours appropriate to meet the needs of the business, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Functions of the Position

  • Assist in planning and executing high-profile casino events, including VIP experiences, anniversary celebrations, promotions, and player appreciation nights
  •  Manage event logistics such as vendor coordination, entertainment bookings, venue setup, and décor
  •  Ensure seamless event execution by coordinating with internal teams, staffing as needed, and delivering outstanding guest experience
  •  Maintain and promote Thunderbird Casino’s brand identity through all events and marketing efforts
  •  Work closely with the marketing team to develop engaging content for event promotion across digital and traditional marketing channels
  •  Assist in creating event-related marketing materials, including flyers, email campaigns, digital signage, and social media graphics
  •  Work with the marketing team to strategize event promotion, track performance, and adjust campaigns as needed
  •  Work closely with Player Development Host, internal departments as well as casino operations to ensure all events align with business objectives
     


 

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; skill in working in an environment subject to constant interruptions and quickly changing priorities; ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities when necessary; effective time-management skills
  • Knowledge of the operation of a variety of computer software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, and graphic applications
  • Knowledge of various equipment, such as phones, microphones, adding machines, and cash and coin counters
  • Knowledge of marketing techniques
  • Knowledge of Thunderbird Casino programs, activities, and events
  • Knowledge of Tribal/State/Federal laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of National Indian Gaming Commission (NICG), Minimum Internal Control Standards, and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, Board members, and the public, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of Thunderbird Casino
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and possess positive conflict management skills.

  •  Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for event execution

Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibilities but will assist with Marketing efforts

Physical Demands

  • Required to walk, sit, and stand for periods
  • Ability to push, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and move intermittently throughout the day

Work Environment

  • Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible
  • Exposure to smoke and secondhand smoke
  • Noise level can be minimal to intense

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience combined)
  • Two (2) years of casino experience preferred
  • One (1) year of prior Event Coordinator experience preferred
  • You must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a key gaming license
