What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for talented, experienced Lead Technical UI Designer to work on Rocket League. In this position, you will lead and manage a team of Technical UI designers implementing UI systems design in Unreal engine, building rapid prototypes, layouts, visual scripting, and leveling up our workflows. You will also be hands-on as a developer! You will work with UX Designers, UI Artists, and UI Engineers to ship these features to millions of users around the world.
In this role, you will
  • Lead a team of Tech UI designers implementing UI systems in Rocket League; work collaboratively across multiple teams to create consistency
  • Set up a culture of mentorship and excellence within the Tech UI design craft
  • Establish best practices and procedures for Tech UI Design
  • Work on UI Systems Design, break down feature/wireframe into necessary widgets, materials, and input navigation
  • Implement blueprint logic when presentation logic calls for it and assist UI Artists where necessary to implement special presentation behavior
  • Debug blueprints/UMG issues quickly using various tools and techniques
What we're looking for
  • Experience managing a team of 2-6 people or equivalent training
  • Expertise in building UI and experiences in game engines and across multiple platforms (mobile, web, pc, consoles)
  • Experience building materials/shaders in Unreal or equivalent
  • Professional engine experience (Custom engine, Unity, UE4, Lumberyard, Snowdrop, etc.), and have game industry 3D-package experience (3D Studio, Maya, etc.)
  • Experience in visual or scripting languages such as Lua, Blueprints, etc
  • You can "translate" communication across departments (i.e., talk to engineering about UI Art needs, summarize technical issues, etc), but also have empathy for non-technical team members and the ability to empower others on your team
