Job description

Provide support as directed by designated supervisor.JOB SUMMARY

Working independently and exercising good judgment the Graphic Design Assistant will perform all duties and assignments related to the design, content creation, and promotion of Liberty Club Sports and teams. Club Sports Marketing exists to promote teams, events, department functions and other University initiatives. It seeks to do so by generating and enacting creative initiatives to capture new customers, athletes and fans, as well as connect with current members of teams. This position will assist with Club Sports social media content, special events materials, website graphics, and design requests as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.
  • Assist with content creation and proofing of Club Sports social media accounts, including working with the Marketing Social Media team on creation, audits, reports, and analytics.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry standards with graphic design, photography, and other technologies and platforms.
  • Support individual teams' season branding campaigns, marketing strategies, social content, including season graphic packages, nationals graphics, game-day promotions, support special events and summer programming as needed, etc.
  • Build and provide seasonal graphic files to social media managers as needed
  • Ability to create and turn around social media content quickly, as situations can arise at any time
  • Take initiative on future projects and offer creative ideas and solutions to the team
  • Maintain file organization and tracking documents for all projects given, and be able to provide status updates as requested
  • Meet weekly with the Club Sports Graphic Design Coordinator and relevant staff for upcoming needs, awards, news, and other content ideas.
  • Work with photography on schedules, gear sign-out, away event photography, and other needs.
  • Create graphic content for print, web, and social media, including attraction guide ads, rink decorations, video board media, jersey designs, special events materials, presentations, awards, ticketing webpage, promotions schedules, website needs, and more.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for varying numbers of interns and practicum students each semester.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSEducation and Experience

Four-year college degree, with a concentration in graphic design, 1-3 years in a design or athletics marketing preferred. Strong organizational, time management, and design experience required. Knowledge with photography preferred. Well-developed communication skills. Current certifications, licenses required/preferable.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Clearly demonstrate understanding and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

WORKING CONDITIONSWork Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well-lit and the noise level is moderate. (Define if outdoor, dusty, weather conditions, etc.). Seasonal outdoor events depending on sport - includes night and weekend hours during sesons and events.

The qualified candidate must be enrolled or planning to enroll as a graduate student at Liberty University. A tuition scholarship will be available for the qualified and chosen candidate.
