Position Overview
The Design Assistant, Footwear & Accessories will provide essential support to the design team, helping bring SKIMS' vision for footwear and accessories to life. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn and grow in a creative, collaborative environment. The Design Assistant will assist in all stages of the design process, from concept development to production, ensuring smooth workflow and timely execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in researching trends, inspiration, and competitive market analysis for footwear and accessories.
• Support the creation of sketches, technical flats, presentation boards, and seasonal design materials.
• Help prepare and maintain detailed tech packs, spec sheets, and color/material standards.
• Organize and track design samples, prototypes, and development swatches.
• Partner with Product Development and Merchandising teams to ensure smooth communication and timely updates.
• Assist in fittings, meetings, and sample reviews, capturing notes and following up on action items.
• Maintain design archives, libraries, and organizational systems for reference and seasonal planning.
• Support the team in preparing for seasonal design presentations and internal reviews.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure all designs align with brand identity, quality, and innovation standards.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of internship or professional experience in design, preferably in footwear and/or accessories.
• Strong technical skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with CLO3D or similar software a plus.
• Excellent organization and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for fashion, design, innovation, and the SKIMS brand.
• Collaborative mindset, willingness to take initiative, and eagerness to learn.
