Job description

Indiana Sports Corp provides internship opportunities that immerse students in a professional working environment while introducing them to the not-for-profit industry. Internships are available based on business needs and can include event and volunteer operations; communications; marketing; graphic design; community engagement; sports tourism; business development; and finance. ISC's fast paced and entrepreneurial working environment offers each intern a rich experience within his/her chosen area; however, interns are exposed to all functional areas of the company to reinforce the important role collaboration plays in a successful company.
Position Overview
The Event Operations Intern will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of Indiana Sports Corp's premier spring sporting events. During the semester, interns will gain hands-on experience working alongside the Event Operations team to deliver three major championship events:
  • USATF Indoor Track & Field National Championships (February 19-21, 2027)
  • 2027 NCAA Division II Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships (March 9-13, 2027)
  • 2027 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament (March 10-14, 2027)

In addition to supporting these championship events, interns will assist with the early planning and operational preparation for the 2028 NCAA Women's Final Four, one of the nation's premier sporting events. Interns will also support communications, planning, and participant outreach for 2027 Corporate Challenge, helping prepare for one of Indiana Sports Corp's signature community events.
This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to multiple national championship events while gaining experience in long-term event planning, logistics, participant services, volunteer management, venue operations, and event execution. Interns will work closely with Indiana Sports Corp staff, venue partners, volunteers, sponsors, and national governing bodies to help deliver world-class sporting events in Indianapolis.
Key Responsibilities (including but are not limited to):
  • Support planning, logistics, and operational coordination for multiple championship events.
  • Assist with participant registration, team services, and customer service communications.
  • Support volunteer recruitment, scheduling, training, and on-site management.
  • Coordinate event equipment, signage, credentials, and other operational materials.
  • Assist with venue setup, event operations, and post-event breakdown.
  • Help maintain event timelines, operational documents, and event manuals.
  • Coordinate vendor orders, deliveries, and inventory management.
  • Assist with hospitality planning and execution for athletes, coaches, officials, sponsors, and VIPs.
  • Attend planning meetings and assist with meeting notes and follow-up items.
  • Provide on-site operational support during practices, competitions, and ancillary events.
  • Assist with communications, planning, and operational preparation for future Indiana Sports Corp events, including the 2028 NCAA Women's Final Four and Corporate 2027 Challenge.
  • Collaborate with Indiana Sports Corp staff, venue personnel, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners to ensure successful event execution.
  • Represent Indiana Sports Corp as a professional ambassador within the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Operations team.

Qualifications
  • Available to work events as needed on weekends or evenings
  • Must be currently pursuing or have recently earned a degree from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program

Required Skills

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
