Job Description:
First Stop Health is seeking an experienced, innovative and detail-oriented Virtual Primary Care Medical Assistant who will play a strategic role within the Clinical Operations and Product Development teams at First Stop Health. The primary focus of this role will be to help First Stop Health bring Virtual Primary Care to the market. In addition to providing direct care to patients and liaising with First Stop Health doctors and outside specialists, this person will work closely with the Product Development teams to ensure that our clinical workflows are optimized for accessible care.
During pilots, this person will provide meaningful feedback to inform the future features of this service. Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Support, this role requires a deeply caring attitude, strategic thinking, and a strong desire to redesign and implement easy-to-use healthcare services.
Schedule:
Initially, this position will primarily work standard business hours. As our Virtual Primary Care program grows, evening and weekend coverage may be required to meet patient demand. This individual will also help inform the long-term staffing model by providing feedback on scheduling needs and workflow optimization.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with clinical leadership to improve the Virtual Primary Care patient experience.
  • Support patients throughout their Virtual Primary Care journey by providing compassionate, patient-centered care coordination and administrative assistance.
  • Follow established clinical protocols and workflows while supporting providers in delivering evidence-based care.
  • Assist with patient intake, documentation, care coordination, follow-up, and other clinical support activities under provider direction.
  • Initiate interdisciplinary and cross-functional process improvement to enhance the patient experience, increase utilization, and/or lower costs
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Clinical Operations, Patient Experience Agents, and Product, to further develop First Stop Health's Virtual Primary Care offering for the market
  • Process provider orders, coordinate referrals, schedule follow-up care, and assist patients with care plan instructions as directed by the provider.
  • Recognize clinical concerns and promptly escalate urgent issues to the appropriate RN or provider.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and provide feedback to enhance clinical workflows and patient experience.

Requirements:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or equivalent) required
  • 2+ years of ambulatory, family practice, internal medicine, or primary care experience preferred
  • Experience supporting telehealth or virtual care highly preferred
  • Ability to be flexible with your schedule as needed required
  • Experience using electronic health records (Athena, Epic, eClinicalWorks, Elation, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Comfortable adapting to evolving technology and workflows
