Job description

Power the Future of Pharmacy Automation
Join a high-impact automation team where your expertise directly supports the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery of care. As an Automation Engineer Senior Analyst (Electrical Mechanical Technician), you will play a critical role in keeping sophisticated pharmacy automation systems operating at peak performance. This is an opportunity for a hands-on problem solver who enjoys diagnosing complex issues, improving equipment reliability, and driving meaningful operational results.
In this role, your work will influence productivity, quality, safety, and customer experience. You'll partner with operations, engineering, and quality teams to deliver lasting solutions that enhance performance across a highly automated pharmacy environment.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve the reliability, availability, and performance of critical pharmacy automation systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, controls, and automation issues to minimize downtime and restore production quickly.
  • Execute preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities on automated production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems, robotics, electrical controls, mechanical assemblies, sensors, motors, drives, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Analyze equipment performance data, maintenance history, and failure trends to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine inspections and equipment assessments to proactively identify reliability risks and performance degradation.
  • Utilize MAXIMO or similar CMMS platforms to document work activity, equipment history, labor, parts usage, and maintenance findings.
  • Recommend and support equipment upgrades, process improvements, and reliability initiatives that increase safety, quality, throughput, and maintainability.
  • Interpret alarms, fault codes, diagnostics, and system data to eliminate recurring issues and prevent future failures.
  • Collaborate across operations, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to support production readiness and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in on-call support as needed to maintain uninterrupted operation of critical automation assets.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience maintaining automated equipment within manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and computer-controlled electro-mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, motors, drives, field devices, and automation systems.
  • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities on complex equipment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as MAXIMO or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to safely repair, adjust, calibrate, and validate precision automation equipment.
  • Flexibility to support various shifts as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or advanced training in automation, industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting high-volume pharmaceutical, distribution, fulfillment, or production operations.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), OSHA 1910 standards, robotics, industrial controls, or machine vision systems.
  • Exposure to data-driven maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to support other ESI facilities.

Why Join Us?
You'll have the opportunity to make a measurable impact on critical pharmacy operations while developing your technical expertise in automation, controls, reliability, and advanced production systems. If you are energized by solving complex challenges and improving how automation performs, we encourage you to apply. Our people make all the difference in helping us deliver better outcomes every day.
