Position Summary The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance of pharmaceutical manufacturing and facility equipment. This role requires advanced expertise in mechanical systems, electrical controls, and troubleshooting to maintain continuous production in a GMP-regulated environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience, the ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform advanced preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on pharmaceutical production equipment, including filling lines, packaging systems, HVAC systems, and utilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Maintain and service control systems including PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, and instrumentation.

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Analyze recurring issues and implement long-term solutions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP, FDA, and internal quality standards.
  • Accurately document maintenance work, deviations, and corrective actions on paper based systems or in a CMMS systems.
  • Support audits and inspections by maintaining proper documentation and equipment records.

Installation & Commissioning

  • When needed, assist with installation, commissioning, and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of new equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and validation teams to ensure proper startup and compliance.

Safety & Reliability

  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and hazardous energy control.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with equipment and processes.
  • Mentor junior technicians on safety practices and technical skills.

Qualifications Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience with experience in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and electrical systems with knowledge in PLCs being a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with CMMS systems.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with focus on quality and compliance.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and cleanroom environments with strict protocols.
  • May require shift work, weekends, and on-call support.
