Summary

Our IOP Master’s level internship aims to assist in developing competent and ethical entry-level clinicians who are confident in their ability to provide quality, specialized treatment to children, adolescents, and adults experiencing obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. This internship is based within OCD Anxiety Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) where interns will obtain professional/clinical development related to individual and family psychotherapy, crisis management, various forms of group facilitation, and documentation. Interns will develop their practical understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy-prolonged exposure (DBT-PE), and crisis response planning. Interns may also have the opportunity to create a community and/or an organizational project working with our marketing, outreach, quality and assurance, or office management teams.

Our center(s) are able to provide internship opportunities year-round at all three of our locations! We interview and accept interns based on our total available intern spots, available supervisors, and fit. We are currently taking applications for 2026

Intern Programs Accepted
Interns must be actively engaged in a master's degree program or higher. All clinical interns must be pursuing a graduate degree in social work, clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or related field.

Internship Objectives:

  • Supports and ensures the clinical team and clients function safely, effectively, and efficiently to promote the best quality and output standards.
  • Supports scheduling, specific department task completion, communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and time and priority management.
  • Collaborates with their supervisor, associate clinical director, Clinical Director, and Clinical Project Coordinator to ensure the maintenance of treatment fidelity, company policy and procedure, and client satisfaction.
  • Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Takes an active role in supporting and modeling TOATC business processes that are both current and in development while supporting and cultivating a positive culture on their team.
  • Provides validation in a warm, safe environment and keeps clients motivated to work through distress and eliminate neutralizing behaviors.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Presents self in a professional manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represents their title as an Intern in transparent and professional manner at all times with both employees and clients/families.
  • Attends weekly supervision (individual/group supervision varies based on school requirements).
  • Attends treatment team meetings.
  • Attends weekly therapist training.
  • Trains up to and maintains a caseload of IOP clients by providing and directing psychotherapeutic intervention during treatment for OCD and other mental health disorders which will include case conceptualizations, development of treatment plans, and perpetuating a skillful and organized IOP.
  • Co-facilitates/Facilitates various IOP groups.
  • Learns and conducts de-escalation techniques as well as crisis planning and management.
  • Maintains comprehensive and timely documentation related to progress notes, group therapy notes, etc.
  • Provides case management related to client caseload.
  • Maintains communication between their associate clinical director and clinical assistant team.
  • Supports in maintaining client satisfaction.
  • Ensures clear communication about school expectations including holiday breaks to both their clinical team and to their clients in a timely, clear, conscious, and professional manner.
  • Assumes tasks related to clinical treatment that may consist of clerical, clinical assistant, and or project development as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficient knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer software.
  • Accurate and efficient electronic data entry.
  • Punctual and maintain excellent attendance.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, takes initiative, and completes job responsibilities independently.
  • Multitasking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thrive in a changing work environment including inside, outside, and loud noise level.
  • Physical demands of the job include sitting at a desk or table for extended periods, bending, lifting, and walking.
  • Pass a full criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internships requiring 16+ hours weekly.
  • We have flexibility with days of the week and hours.
  • Interns within their 2nd/final year in a social work or counseling masters program.
  • Prior clinical experience.
  • Experience with populations suffering from obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy and/or dialectical behavior therapy experience.
