WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The primary purpose of this position is to receive Return Authorizations (RAs), perform inspections, testing, and repairs as necessary while maintaining and logging all associated information in the appropriate systems. This role ensures adherence to quality standards and manages raw material inventory levels while performing repairs. Repairs can include sewing and gluing on a variety of Mustang SKUs.

STRUCTURE

The Entry-Level Sewing Machine Operator reports to the Production Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager and collaborates with Quality Control Inspectors and Production Planners. They may receive guidance from more experienced operators.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Maintaining paperwork and testing records.
  • Operating industrial sewing machines (Lock-Stitch, Chain-Stitch, and/or Cycle Shift) or other machinery (manual or programmable) to assemble garments according to the appropriate methods and techniques for each product.
  • Reverse engineering new products.
  • Ensuring proper operation of sewing machines by cleaning, changing needles, detecting bobbin-winding problems, and testing the machine.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe immediate workspace. Following all Safety Regulations and reporting all hazards, injuries, and accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Running handheld fabric shears for cutting patches or templates.
  • Receiving RAs, performing inspections, testing, and necessary repairs.
  • Logging all associated information in the appropriate systems.
  • Managing raw material inventory levels while performing repairs.
  • Conducting basic maintenance and troubleshooting of sewing machines to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborating with team members to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Assisting in training new sewing machine operators or apprentices as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic experience or training in sewing machine operation.
  • Basic knowledge of sewing and gluing processes necessary to repair various products.
  • Basic knowledge of inspection and testing of products before, during, and after repairs as required by the product.
  • Ability to adapt and work well in a continuously changing environment.
  • Good communication skills and command of English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Participate in and lead risk assessments.
  • Participate in and lead weekly toolbox training.
  • Good basic sewing skills with the ability to handle various fabrics and sewing operations.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and others.
  • Ability to handle multiple workloads.
  • Ability to read a variety of measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of products and construction methods.
