Job Description

About the Role

The Internship Coordinator is primarily responsible for managing and supporting The Huntington's internship programs, including those funded by The Huntington as well as internships funded by third-party institutions. This position plays a key role in ensuring a positive, inclusive, and productive experience for all interns.

In addition to the Internship Program, this role will assist recruitment efforts across the institution including attending job fairs, posting roles, screenings candidates and processing new hires.

The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is a 12-month, full-time opportunity, perfect for someone who is passionate about education, professional development, and building inclusive pathways into cultural institutions.

S/he/they will demonstrate a background of working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds, using a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible approach.

Essential Duties

  • Coordinate internship opportunities across the institution by gathering internship requests from participating divisions and ensuring internship descriptions align with The Huntington's values and requirements.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, Advancement, and third-party organizations regarding internship placements and grant notifications.

  • Track internships start/end dates, conduct onboarding/offboarding, and provide administrative support to ensure a smooth internship experience; assist with facilitating professional and timely communication with applicants, employers, and third-party institutions.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external institutions that offer or support internship opportunities.

  • Monitor intern progress and gather feedback from interns and mentors; assess and report on program effectiveness.

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to candidates and hired interns, addressing questions or concerns as they arise.

  • Coordinate professional development programming, such as workshops and events, in collaboration with speakers and staff across the institution.

  • Moderate and maintain the LinkedIn group for current and former interns, including sharing career opportunities and networking events.

  • Maintain proper filing of recruitment materials including notes, internship descriptions, reference and background checks.

  • Support the Huntington recruitment process, including LinkedIn postings, processing hires, processing p-card verification, and posting positions on relevant job boards.

  • Provide office and administrative support as needed including answering employee inquiries.

  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements and Experience

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources, program coordination, or related administrative work highly preferred.

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills.

  • Self-starter who thrives in independent and collaborative work environments.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Workday is a plus.

  • Spanish fluency is a plus.
