Job description

NFI Massachusetts is seeking motivated and compassionate undergraduate students to join our internship program across a variety of residential settings. This is a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting youth and families within a dynamic, mission-driven human services organization.
About Us:
NFI Massachusetts is a leading nonprofit agency dedicated to maximizing individual potential and supporting the promise of community living. We provide trauma-informed, strengths-based clinical and educational services to youth, families, and adults across Massachusetts.
Internship Overview:
Undergraduate interns will work alongside experienced professionals to learn about the delivery of behavioral health and social services in real-world settings. Interns will gain insight into program operations, client engagement, and the interdisciplinary teamwork that supports individuals and families facing social, emotional, and systemic challenges. This is an unpaid internship opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist staff with program activities and daily operations
  • Observe and support individual, group, and family sessions as appropriate
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and case discussions
  • Complete documentation and administrative tasks as assigned
  • Engage with youth and families in a supportive and professional manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards consistent with agency policies

Eligibility & Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Interest in working with diverse populations and learning about trauma-informed care
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned internship site(s)
