Job Description
Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians for League City provide immediate response to 911 calls and, as the first healthcare provider at the scene of emergency situations, evaluate these emergencies and provide medical care to the sick and injured. This is an "emergency essential" position, requiring you to be available immediately before, during, and after emergency conditions or disasters, to perform duties directly related to the emergency conditions, as determined by the City. Additionally, this is a safety sensitive and/or DOT position, where you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.
Job Functions
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  • Provide citizens of League City and surrounding communities with emergency medical care and transportation to hospitals
  • Assist and coordinate with other emergency service agencies in MVAs, rescue operations, and other emergency situations
  • Documents all medical calls and medical treatment provided in ESO Solutions system
  • Receive technical and functional supervision from EMS Management Staff
  • Provides prehospital medical care during emergency situations to include Basic Life and Advanced Life Support activities
  • Assess/evaluate patient condition, determine course of treatment, and perform advanced procedures when necessary, to stabilize the patient
  • Continually monitor patient condition, changing course of treatment as needed
  • Maintains equipment and cleanliness of the assigned stations; checks and replaces damaged and used supplies
  • Drive MICU units to scenes and/or transports patients to receiving facilities
  • Must be able to work shift calendar that includes a four shift rotation with debit day to equal a 48-hour work week, including holidays and weekends
  • Performs related work as required
  • Exhibit acceptable emergency driving techniques
  • Ability to learn geography of response area
  • Must maintain ability to carry out standing orders under the medical director's discretion

Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year of Emergency Medical Service experience preferred.
  • Completion of TxDSHS AEMT
    • Each individual must qualify and be recertified prior to the end of their Texas certification period
    • Must maintain CE hours within current Texas DSHS guidelines
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Full-time employees are eligible to participate in our standard benefits program which includes:
  • Vacation leave accruals at the rate of 3.33 hours per pay period x 24 pay periods;

  • TMRS retirement plan that requires a mandatory employee contribution of 7% of gross earnings. The City matches this contribution at a rate of 2 to 1
