Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Teach adult English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to refugee students from a variety of backgrounds (approx. 20 hours of classroom instruction per week).
  • Support For the Nations' (FTN) ESL Department by: planning ESL lessons; grading student work; brainstorming and implementing assessment materials and practices for incoming and current students; helping develop curriculum and teaching materials.
  • Serve in a missional capacity by developing personal relationships with students and visiting them and their families (especially when in need).
  • Help further the mission of For the Nations (with a focus on adult education): To serve refugee families by providing education and acculturation services that meet both short- and long-term needs, and to share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ


OTHER POSSIBLE FUNCTIONS

  • Help with after-school tutoring programs for children
  • Teach reading and other educational classes for children during the summer
  • Provide transportation services to refugee families
  • Assist families personally and in connection with our Family Services Department
  • Support other FTN programs as needed


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Committed Christian
