ABOUT THE ROLE

The ESG Program Manager serves as the operational backbone of a large organization's Responsible Business function โ€” keeping strategic priorities on track, governance structures running smoothly, and cross-functional stakeholders aligned. This is a high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of sustainability, regulatory readiness, and enterprise program management, supporting senior leadership on both day-to-day execution and long-term initiative planning. It's built for someone who brings structure to complexity and can manage multiple workstreams without losing sight of the details.

Our client is a large, nationally recognized organization with a mature and growing Responsible Business function. They operate across multiple business units with complex cross-functional stakeholder environments, and are investing significantly in sustainability governance, regulatory readiness, and corporate disclosure initiatives.


DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES


RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS OPERATIONS & GOVERNANCE

  • Coordinate execution of Responsible Business priorities, strategic initiatives, and enterprise commitments across the organization
  • Maintain governance processes, workplans, project trackers, action logs, operating rhythms, and reporting processes
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination, track risks and dependencies, and support issue resolution
  • Develop scalable processes, tools, governance structures, and operational frameworks that improve organizational effectiveness
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts that enhance the maturity, scalability, and efficiency of Responsible Business processes
  • Support governance, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and process improvement activities associated with the annual Responsible Business Report and related disclosure initiatives
  • Serve as a key operational partner helping leadership maintain visibility into priorities, commitments, and progress


REGULATORY READINESS & ENTERPRISE COORDINATION

  • Coordinate Responsible Business readiness efforts related to sustainability, climate, disclosure, supply chain, governance, and corporate responsibility requirements
  • Support implementation planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, consultant coordination, and enterprise readiness activities
  • Facilitate collaboration among Legal, Finance, Procurement, Operations, HR, Communications, and Responsible Business stakeholders
  • Help leadership translate regulatory developments into practical workplans, implementation roadmaps, and governance requirements
  • Support readiness assessments, leadership communications, implementation tracking, and governance reporting


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Policy, Communications, Sustainability, Project Management, Organizational Leadership, Finance, or a related field โ€” or equivalent experience
  • 5โ€“8+ years of experience in program management, business operations, governance, consulting, sustainability, communications, compliance, or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated success managing complex cross-functional initiatives involving executive stakeholders, competing priorities, and multiple workstreams
  • Experience supporting executive leadership through governance, strategic planning, communications, stakeholder engagement, and program execution
  • Experience developing governance processes, policies, procedures, or program management frameworks
  • Experience coordinating budgets, contracts, consultants, vendors, and related business operations activities
  • Strong business judgment, organizational skills, and ability to execute in a fast-paced environment
