Job description

 The Training Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting, developing, and delivering training programs for office and manufacturing associates across a range of business needs. This includes training on core business systems (such as our ERP platform, Epicor), as well as key operational and process-based training across the organization. By delivering effective instruction, creating user-friendly materials, and providing ongoing support, this role helps drive consistency, improve productivity, and ensure systems and processes are successfully utilized across the organization—maintaining Ohio Gratings’ competitive edge. 

This position requires a passion for teaching, a desire to learn and understand Epicor and other systems, and a commitment to helping associates confidently apply what they’ve learned in their daily work. Strong communication skills are necessary to confidently and effectively train diverse groups and manage different learning styles. The Training Specialist must be enthusiastic about providing exceptional training, ensuring associates have the knowledge and tools to succeed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Working with Passion: Conduct training for both office and manufacturing associates, ensuring that training is thorough, engaging, and effective. Demonstrate a passion for training by delivering high-quality, detailed, and impactful sessions.
  • Honoring Our Commitments: Collaborate with leadership and other cross-functional teams to design training sessions that align with the company's goals and objectives. Ensure that training is delivered on time and with accuracy, adhering to the company’s promise to "Make it Right and Ship When Promised."
  • Caring to Earn Trust: Take the time to understand the needs of associates and adjust training methods to suit varying learning styles. Foster an environment of trust and support, ensuring associates feel confident in their ability to use core systems and processes.
  • Sustaining Our Future: Ensure that all associates have the training they need to contribute to the company's growth and profitability, helping the organization protect resources and sustain long-term success.
  • Transforming Ourselves: Continually enhance your knowledge of core business systems (including Epicor), training tools, and related technologies to remain at the forefront of industry trends. Help drive innovation by offering new ideas for training techniques, system improvements, and process optimization. Encourage associates to embrace new solutions and innovative approaches.
  • Developing Training Materials: Use a variety of platforms to create and maintain instructional documents, presentations, tutorials, videos, and other training materials to support effective learning. Design these materials with the end user in mind, tailoring them for office and/or manufacturing associates to promote clarity and ease of use.
  • Managing Training Records: Create and maintain training records within the company’s learning management system (LMS). Assist with administrative logistics including scheduling, prepping, facilitating, and documenting trainings.
  • Implementing New Solutions: Assist in the implementation of new training solutions and system enhancements (including Epicor upgrades), ensuring that changes are effectively communicated and adopted by all associates. Support the company’s mission to always be the first-choice organization for associates, customers, and markets.
  • Additional Duties: Support the broader corporate learning and development initiatives as needed. Continuously seek ways to improve processes and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  • All other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work will take place in both office and manufacturing environments. Exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, and moving machinery on the manufacturing floor. Must be able to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and move between different areas of the workplace. Flexibility to adjust work schedules to meet the needs of the training program. Comfortable with varying temperature and climate conditions in the manufacturing setting.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Training and Development, Education, or related field preferred. A background in teaching, training, development, or instructional experience, is preferred. Experience with ERP systems (Epicor or similar) is preferred; ability and willingness to quickly learn new systems is essential. Exceptional organizational and planning skills, strong attention to detail, and flexibility to manage multiple training initiatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar tools. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
