Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Analytics Team Lead is responsible for leading one of the teams in Eskenazi's Analytics Department. The Analytics Department provides Eskenazi with reporting within all business intelligence tools Eskenazi utilizes, and champions data driven decision making. A Team Lead handles the day-to-day operations of business intelligence developers and data analysts. The incumbent of the team lead position works closely with the other team lead(s) to triage incoming requests, balance workloads of the developers and analysts and provide guidance to their team. A successful team leader will have the ability to work autonomously, enjoy solving puzzles and troubleshooting, experience with reporting in Epic, and vast SQL knowledge. The team leader should feel empowered to make decisions regarding queue priorities, staffing, and handling reporting issues that arise. The day-to-day activities of the Team Lead will include some reporting development and it is vital for the team lead to stay up to date on the capabilities of the business intelligence tools.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.ย  Models Eskenazi values of P.R.I.D.E. (Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence)
  • Fosters a positive environment for the team to collaborate and learn from each other.
  • Mentors new team members and provides support for team members struggling with requests.
  • Collaborates with other Analytics team lead(s) to triage incoming requests and workloads of the team.
  • Leads daily stand-ups for their team and co-leads monthly inter-team stand-ups.
  • Manages the team and ensures team members are following the proper policies and procedures pertinent for reporting success.
  • Co-leads user group meetings to ensure user groups are prioritizing their requests, discussing upcoming projects, and conducting additional data literacy training.
  • Develop dashboard mock-ups that can be used by the Data Analysts and the Business Intelligence Developers to understand all metrics that need to be created to meet the requester's needs.
  • Promote business intelligence tools to end users and note deficiencies in data models for the Business Intelligence Developers can correct and improve the self-service reporting tools.
  • Meet at least bi-weekly with each team member for one-on-ones.
  • Works with SAP S/4Hana Developers, and ETL developer to outline new data model needs.
  • Collaborates with the trainer to determine how to roll out training to end users.
  • Co-leads Nova Note reviews with other team lead(s) and monitors the teams' progress with completing the notes on time.
  • First point of contact for Regenstrief Data Core team for questions.
  • Champion data literacy, data quality, and data stewardship principles.
  • Provide training to end users and assist with training principles.
  • Assist with the development of proper documentation policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the development of an enterprise data catalog.
  • Actively promotes business intelligence software within Eskenazi Health over ad-hoc Excel data pulls.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in healthcare or business-related field, Masters preferred.
  • At least three years of experience at Eskenazi is preferred.
    • In lieu of Eskenazi experience, 5 years working in a healthcare setting/organization in an analytical-type role is required.
  • At least one year in either a supervisory role or in a project management role where you were responsible for the work of others is required.
  • Experience with creating reporting deliverables including reports, analyses, and dashboards is required.
  • Epic Cogito Fundamentals and Caboodle Data Model certifications are highly preferred.
    • Missing certifications must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, or other business intelligence tools (outside of Excel) is required.
  • Ability to write complex SQL code is required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep understanding of Eskenazi Health or healthcare clinical and operational workflows in general.
  • Ability to lead meetings with users of varying technical and data understanding.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to probe for information about the underlying needs for a report request.
  • Ability to analyse data and assist with identifying ways to measure key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill with Eskenazi business intelligence software and promotes continued learning.
  • Serves as a resource for the applications and with IS team members across applications.
  • Knowledge of Power BI is preferred.
  • Ability to write user friendly definitions of business and operational terms.
