Job description

The Project Manager is an experienced professional responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex healthcare IT projects from initiation through completion. This role applies a comprehensive understanding of project management frameworks to manage scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk across departmental and cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in health IT, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of hands-on implementations for Epic Beaker and/or Epic Willow Pharmacy, including their associated clinical and operational workflows.

2+ year Contract

Pay: $100/hour on W2

Location: San Francisco, CA - Hybrid On-site (Travel to office once per quarter)

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle for complex healthcare IT initiatives. Define project scope, develop detailed schedules, plan resources, oversee budgets, and mitigate risks.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams. Facilitate project meetings, track deliverables, and ensure accountability across all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, key milestones, and overall status. Proactively communicate updates, blockers, and successes to executive leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships and system integration activities. Identify, track, and escalate technical risks and issues as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including proposals, project charters, detailed project plans, and executive status reports.

Requirements

  • Direct, hands-on experience with Epic Beaker CP/AP (Laboratory) and/or Epic Willow Pharmacy implementations, including a deep understanding of associated clinical and operational workflows.
  • Proven experience working within health system environments and a strong working knowledge of large-scale healthcare IT initiatives and their organizational impacts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, frameworks, and methodologies (including PMI, Agile, and Waterfall).
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead diverse project teams with confidence and clarity.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to anticipate obstacles, manage risk, plan for contingencies, and prioritize across concurrent workstreams.
  • Competency in selecting, configuring, and implementing modern project management tools and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting application expansion or full-scale Epic implementations for new facilities or new hospital construction projects.
  • Familiarity with interoperability standards and third-party clinical systems integrations.
  • Proven leadership ability with a knack for putting forth persuasive, well-reasoned arguments to senior leadership.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
