About the Role
The successful candidate will advise developers, manufacturers, lenders, and other clients on a wide range of environmental matters arising from real estate development, business transactions, regulatory compliance, and site remediation. This role offers meaningful client interaction and the opportunity to work alongside experienced environmental attorneys, consultants, engineers, and regulatory agencies on complex matters.
Responsibilities
Advise clients on environmental issues related to real estate development, mergers and acquisitions, financings, and other business transactions.
Conduct environmental due diligence and counsel clients on environmental risks and compliance obligations.
Assist clients with Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) compliance, site remediation, environmental permitting, and environmental cost recovery matters.
Advise on water, wetlands, and other federal, state, and local environmental regulatory issues.
Work with environmental consultants, engineers, and government agencies to develop practical solutions for complex environmental matters.
Represent clients before regulatory agencies, including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other governmental entities.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school.
2โ3 years of environmental law experience, including environmental due diligence.
Experience advising clients on environmental compliance, permitting, remediation, and transactional matters.
Familiarity with ISRA compliance, water and wetlands issues, environmental permitting, and site remediation is preferred.
Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies, including the NJDEP, EPA, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is preferred.
Admission to the New Jersey Bar and in good standing.
Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, communication, and client service skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage matters independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
Compensation
$180,000 โ $200,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
