Job description

Job Purpose

Furnitureland South, the World’s Largest Furniture Store, seeks an enthusiastic and positive-minded individual with experience and passion in visual merchandising of furniture and home décor in a retail gallery space. This is an entry-level position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Communicate with supervisor on tasks to be accomplished daily
  • Open, tag, and organize all accessory product on the retail receiving docks
  • Maintain organization of staging areas and assist in movement of product to retail gallery floors
  • Communicate with distribution center, inventory, and data management teams to ensure all product is received in and tagged properly for the retail gallery floors
  • Conduct walk-through audits of assigned areas and ensure these areas are meeting presentation standards
  • Assist Designers with the execution of design plans for galleries
  • Assist with various visual merchandising tasks, including but not limited to: Gathering and placing accessories, steaming linens, and hanging artwork that is 25 lbs. or less in weight
  • Assist in the management of inventory by scanning all product to proper locations
  • Occasional Saturday work required
  • Assist manager or their delegate in special projects and tasks as assigned. This may include work in conjunction with or on behalf of other departments.
  • Lift, carry and/or push furniture with a maximum weight of 25 lbs. in such a way to avoid injury to self and others while avoiding damage to items or property.
  • The job responsibilities are not limited to the items previously listed. Other duties may be added or existing duties changed at any given time.

Required Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent with one to three years’ experience in merchandising.

Working Conditions

This job is an onsite position and operates in a professional work environment. This role routinely uses scanners, taggers, standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Required to seek assistance from associates within the department as needed for lifting items too heavy for one person to handle, specifically when overhead lifting is involved.  Familiarity and compliance with all safety rules.  Familiarity with location and usage of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., open accessory boxes, use small step ladder for hanging artwork that is 25 lbs. or less, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary
