Job description

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional Youth String Orchestra Conductor to direct, part-time, at The Music Shop, in Boonton, New Jersey. We are looking for instructors who will teach IN PERSON.
The person hired will be taking ownership and directing two programs: junior strings and intermediate strings.
Requirements:
- Available for our September through May program.
- Proficiency in a string instrument such as violin, viola, cello, or double bass
- Teach two 90-minute sessions per week, totaling 34 weeks
- Select music that is appropriate for the students.
- Educate, unite, and nurture a musical community and promote healthy camaraderie between the students.
- Motivate and inspire our musical community and students.
Both students and school staff appreciate consistency, and preference will be given to candidates with greater availability. Successful candidates will have a strong music background evidenced by a degree in music performance, pedagogy, or equivalent performing experience, a demonstrated love of teaching, experience working with young musicians, a robust appreciation for punctuality, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a routine background check.
Instructor pay is commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $40-45/hour.
Health benefit options and a 401(K) program with employer matching are available for all part- and full-time employees at Ensemble after 30 days of employment.
About Andante Strings
This skill-based entry level orchestra will help young string players develop the skills needed to perform in a group and work on varying keys, rhythms and styles of music.
About Dynamic Strings
This skill-based ensemble will challenge string students to hone their techniques and work toward perfecting an ensemble that is greater than the sum of its individuals. Teamwork is very important in creating a cohesive sound and projecting music that will excite and move the audience.
