Job description

Position Summary: The entry level BIM Technician plays a vital role in assisting the BIM team in the production of accurate and detailed 3D models for engineering projects. They will partner with experienced engineers and designers and learn the fundamentals of design support and the AEC industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists engineers and designers with layouts, details, schedules, drawings and other documents of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, refrigeration, technology and/or electrical systems.
  • Facilitates model setup tasks including but not limited to base cleaning, sheet setup and view setup. Ensures that BIM models adhere to established industry and organizational standards.
  • Assists with routine model maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy and integrity of 3D models and associated data.
  • Actively seeks out and participates in learning opportunities for various BIM software applications including their latest features and updates.
  • May support business development or pursuit activities under direct supervision.
  • Occasionally participates in client, company and/or industry events.
  • Fosters a client-centric mindset and approach.
  • Partners with experienced engineering and design staff to understand client requirements and scope of work.
  • Acts as a liaison to inform engineering and design teams of client and architect questions and relays responses.
  • May visit job sites for observation and learning and development opportunities.
  • Participates in coordination meetings to discuss BIM-related issues, updates and progress.
  • ย Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a continuous basis.
  • Acquires knowledge and fundamentals of common industry software including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office products.
  • Researches and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards, asking questions as needed to ensure understanding and potential for application opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Exposure to fundamental knowledge of the A&E industry preferred.
  • Must participate in and successfully complete the BIM training program.
  • Familiarity with Revit and Bluebeam Revu preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
  • High technical aptitude with the ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with designers at all levels in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems using reasoning and judgment.
  • Ability to function in a highly collaborative environment and in group projects.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional travel may be required (10-15%).
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
