Our Rental Technicians at PTR are the lifeblood of our operations. They are responsible for many of the pre-delivery upfitting and inspections. Working together with team members, our experienced technicians perform hundreds of aftermarket installations per month to keep our customized rental fleet working. 

LOCATION

  • Onsite- Fort Wayne

Scheduled Hours

  • Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Compensation

  • Hourly pay of $22.80 per hour, plus overtime and benefits that start day one.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for pre-delivery inspections, dots, decals/sticker install, wiring/strobing, toolbox/transfer tank installation,ladder rack build and install, inverter install, lighting installs, quality checks, test drives, checkouts, and additional customer upfits on our rental fleet of F150-F750 series vehicles. 
  • Safely perform connection of mechanical and electrical aftermarket components – such as fuel transfer pumps and safety strobe lighting. 
  • Complete installations in a timely manner, meeting rental schedule deadlines set by the Department Manager.
  • Verify all installation items have been properly installed, and complete workshop orders with accuracy.  
  • Understand and execute all quality and safety standards regarding installation procedures and best practices, with work performed passing a final quality inspection.  
  • Perform electronic vehicle check-in and check-out inspections via a tablet with close attention to detail.
  • Perform all metal fabrication work (welding, cutting, drilling) required for the production build processes, and upfit processes.  
  • Work together with team members and Department Manager to continuously improve installation processes.  
  • 5S (Sort, Shine, Straighten, Standardize, Sustain): Implement and uphold 5S principles within the workspace to improve efficiency and organization

REQUIREMENTS

MUST HAVE

  • 1-2 years of mechanical and/or electrical experience. And/or currently attending an automotive or electrical technical school.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Troubleshoot basic automotive mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence, tact and resourcefulness.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and use a tablet.  
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to work both inside the shop environment and outdoors.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
