Job description

The Role
You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team where you will create advanced applications for Energy Management Systems (EMS) that enable our customers around the world to perform efficient and holistic real-time monitoring of complex transmission networks, intelligent and reliable security analysis for developing effective strategies to avert, mitigate and cope with system emergencies in their transmission grids.
Your Impact
  • Design, develop and test software applications used in the power systems industry.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop software application designs that satisfy customer requirements.
  • Develop product documentation for software applications.
  • Design theoretical algorithms and deliver the implementation in software applications.
  • Create test procedures and perform testing including unit and algorithm proof testing.
  • Maintain existing power system software applications and internal tools.
  • Perform technical reviews on development work products.
  • Stay up to date with the latest NERC/FERC standards and power system engineering industry developments.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, BSEE with Power Systems Emphasis, Mathematics or related technical field.
  • Understanding of power systems concepts in generation, transmission, distribution, distributed energy resources (DER)/DER integration and/or outage management
  • Proficiency with analytical tools, e.g., MATLAB, PSLF, CYME, PowerWorld or other similar tools
  • Exposure to Transient Switching studies using EMTP/EMTDC/PSCAD or equivalent software
  • Proficiency in C, C++ and/or C# coding (school or work setting)
  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Power Systems Emphasis, Mathematics or related technical field.
  • Demonstrated understanding/application of knowledge in areas of power flow, state estimation, DER control and network optimization.
  • Knowledge of high voltage Electrical Power Systems.
  • Experience developing software in a commercial setting using C, C++ and/or C#.

Work Location:
Aspen Technology has a global hybrid workplace for most of our roles. Employees are expected to work in the office 4 days per week and may work remotely 1 day per week, unless the employee has a reasonable accommodation or other approved exception to the hybrid workplace schedule. This role is based at the AspenTech Digital Grid Management Headquarters in Medina, MN.

The salary range for this role is $74,200.00 - $92,800.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
