Entry-Level Systems Engineer

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Entry-Level Systems Engineer (Level 1) to support the Space Battle Management, Command, and Control (SBMC2) Team in Colorado Springs, CO.
This entry-level engineering position supports the development and integration of complex systems in the defense space domain using modeling, simulation, and mission analysis tools.
The ideal candidate will have a foundation in aerospace systems with demonstrated skills in requirements analysis, interface definition, systems integration, and lifecycle processes. The candidate will also be engaged in continuous professional development, including agile team leadership (Scrum Master training), model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and simulation capabilities such as AFSIM and STK.
Position Responsibilities
  • Support the SBMC2 program by performing system engineering tasks including requirements development, verification, and definition of system interfaces based on customer and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with and lead an Agile development team in a Scrum Master role, including leading key events such as Scrum Meetings and Sprint Planning
  • Assist in integration, verification, and validation of systems components with cross-functional teams.
  • Apply modeling and simulation skills to support mission analysis and system performance evaluation, including using tool such as with AFSIM or Ansys STK.
  • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts to capture system requirements, architecture, and traceability.
  • Assist with risk management and technical performance measurements.
  • Work closely with technical teams and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to facilitate communication, problem resolution, and continuous system improvement.

Travel may be required for up to 10% of the time; domestically depending on business needs.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance/SCI Post-Start is required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience or foundational knowledge in systems engineering lifecycle activities, requirements analysis, and integration/verification processes.
  • Knowledge or experience with MBSE principles, system modeling with SysML or similar tools preferred.
  • Exposure to modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM, Ansys STK, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development environment and Scrum framework; experience serving in a Scrum Master role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems (GNC, power, communications) and mission operations concepts.
  • Experience with mission analysis, system modeling, and simulation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience supporting defense program lifecycle phases.
  • Experience with project management and version management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Gitlab
  • Working knowledge of programming or scripting languages (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Experience with risk analysis techniques and technical performance trending.
  • Experience with data analysis and process improvement.
  • Previous team leadership or management experience
