Pride Health is seeking a Packaging Engineer for a materials science company that designs and manufactures advanced adhesives, coatings, films, abrasives, and other engineered materials that improve performance, durability, and safety across industrial, healthcare, and consumer applications


Job Title: Packaging Engineer

Location: St. Paul, MN (On-Site)

Job Type: Contract

Length: 12-Months

Hours: 40 hours/wk, 8 hours/day

Pay Rate: $25 - $30 per hour


Overview:

  • Follows a selected number of clearly defined procedures under general guidance.
  • Handles inquiries of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Provides direct and/or indirect entry level package engineering services to assigned operating units.
  • Provides basic research and analysis for packaging and business information upon request.
  • Implements packaging solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows a variety of clearly defined procedures under general guidance within Package Engineering organizational areas such as client services, continuous improvement, systems, quality, regulatory affairs management center (RAMC), graphics design, etc.
  • Works independently, although the scope for discretion is limited and the output is reviewed periodically while in progress.
  • The work priorities are defined with the manager/supervisor.
  • Uses packaging theories and practices to provide guidance and/or training to clients or support level co-workers within the same or job-related work group.
  • Handles inquiries of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Uses data from multiple sources and basic analytical skills to interpret information, examine variables, draw conclusions, and assess alternative methods. Most complex problem solving may require the use of increased judgment to handle some variations in conditions or operations, making decisions based on selecting from alternative courses of action using greater adaptation to circumstances when necessary.
  • Decisions or actions may impact the operational effectiveness of work operations, schedules, or performance goals.
  • Work tasks typically encompass concepts within one discipline/practice within one department/location.
  • Working tasks might include:
  • Assists in the development and implementation of package solutions through direct or indirect contact with clients at the direction of senior package engineering personnel/supervisor.
  • Supports the modification and improvement of existing package designs, methods and/or solutions.
  • Follows prescribed federal, state, and international packaging regulations as directed.
  • Works with suppliers of packaging materials and/or contract packaging vendors to obtain price/cost estimates, sample/material needs and design requirements for less complex projects.
  • Researches, interprets and analyzes information/data, as directed for business teams to assist in the completion of packaging requests and projects.
  • Learns and begins to apply quality management requirements to department operations.
  • Participates on cross-functional teams to develop process or product improvements, standard operating procedures, work instructions, training, and supporting documentation.
  • Manages and/or retrieves packaging and business data from departmental systems/databases to support analysis or improvements.
  • Participates in internal/external audits for adherence to defined policies and procedures, providing necessary communication and follow-up for necessary corrective action.
  • Produces or manages graphics design projects of limited scope and complexity in support of functional marketing/business plans, organizational plans and Company's reputation and brand strategy.
  • Primary contacts are typically internal and on a professional, supervisory, or co-worker level.
  • Interaction is focused on answering routine questions directly related to the professional discipline, as well as exchanging factual information with an audience knowledgeable in the subject area.
  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards, complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with Companyโ€™s values and ethical standards.
  • The job also requires performing other duties as assigned. Percentages of time spent on job duties are estimates and may vary for each position.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor level university/college degree is generally required as Package Engineering or Any engineering field
  • 1 year relevant working experience required. Open to recent grads
  • Basic knowledge of theories and practices, applied to one discipline.
  • Develops knowledge of assigned area of responsibility and Company structure, organization, and business.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and corporate systems relevant to the assigned area of responsibility is normally required.
  • Generally requires the ability to communicate in written English.
  • In some countries, a 2-3 years technical/vocational/trade school degree in a specific field may be considered equivalent.
