Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer for our Newark, DE office.

This position is expected to begin in Summer 2026.

As a Structural Engineer you will work with project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation and support roles during the construction phase. This is a diverse role that will involve your contribution and insight to the effective delivery of its current and future portfolio of projects.

As an Entry-Level Structural Engineer, you will work with multi-discipline project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from initial concepts to detailed design development and through construction. This is a diverse role that will involve your contributions and insight to the effective delivery of the department's current and future portfolio of projects.

 The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake design, restoration and planning activities on building structural projects, including water and wastewater facilities, industrial facilities, transit stations, and ancillary structures related to projects.
  • Prepare structural design calculations to determine applied loading and demand requirements under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Prepare technical specifications under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Develop design documentation (3D models, plans, sketches, and details) using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Review construction submittals and RFI's and assist with the development of detailed, timely responses.
  • Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed and prepare reports. Occasional short term site visits may become necessary depending on project requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering + none or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Some production software experience including but not limited to: Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, MathCAD, Bluebeam Revu.
  • Some structural analysis software experience including but not limited to: RAM Elements, STAAD.pro, RAM Structural System, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC and ACI 318
