Job description

Job Title: Structural Engineer IV - Spacecraft

Location: Pasadena, CA; ONSITE 9/80 work schedule

Contract position for 1 year with possibility of extension/long term

Pay: $51.00 -$107.00 hourly, depending on experience


Candidates from the aerospace, defense, and space industry are encouraged to apply


Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis (FEA and Classical Hand) for different phases of the project, such as configuration studies, preliminary design, detailed design, and verification and validation (static and dynamic testing)
  • Responsible for analyzing and sizing the structural hardware per prescribed loading environment and material properties, and generating the structural (strength and stability) margins
  • Other responsibilities include making configuration and design recommendations to optimize the load path and thus achieving a more efficient design

.Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or civil Engineering
  • Wide-ranging experience in structural analysis techniques, including classical hand analyses and Finite Element analysis utilizing both coarse system load and detailed stress FE models
  • Working knowledge of FEA codes (MSC/NASTRAN or NX/NASTRAN) and pre- and post-processing tools (FEMAP)
  • Knowledge of metallic and composite structures, as well as bonded joint and bolted joint analyses
  • Knowledge of structural failure mechanisms, including material failure in metals and composites, instability of structural elements, and Fatigue
