Are you looking to gain experience in plumbing? Grand Canyon University's Facilities department is seeking an Entry Level Plumber. This person will perform master journey-level work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems. This role will be locatedon our Main Campus at 33rd Ave and Camelback.

What you will do:

  • Studies building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.

  • Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.

  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.

  • Assembles and installs valves.

  • Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether a system is leaking.

  • Trouble shoot, repair, replace, and learn about garbage disposals.

  • Inspect and repair toilets.

  • Inspect and clear drain lines.

  • Repair leaks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will need:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Must have sufficient knowledge of water distribution and wastewater disposal for commercial buildings.

  • Must demonstrate a proficient knowledge in the correct usage of tools, power tools, and equipment as related to plumbing systems.

  • Must have the physical skills and endurance to move about campus and the buildings to fulfill daily maintenance tasks and activities.

  • Self-motivated and shows initiative to start and complete tasks.

  • Must be familiar with, and follow, safety requirements and precautions.

  • Detail oriented with good troubleshooting skills.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

  • Must pass background check requirements.
