Location: Richardson, TX (Serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex)
Employment Type: Full-Time (W-2)
Compensation: $60,000 - $100,000+ Annually


About PV National

PV National is an established solar detach-and-reinstall (D&R) company serving roofing contractors and homeowners throughout Texas. We specialize in supporting insurance-funded roofing projects involving existing solar systems and have built a strong reputation within the roofing and solar industries.

As we continue to grow, we are expanding into direct-to-consumer solar service, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and battery storage solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Service Technician to become a foundational member of our growing service division.

This is an opportunity to join an established company while helping build a new service department from the ground up. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, self-motivated, technically advanced, and excited to help shape processes, standards, and customer experiences as we grow.

Compensation

$60,000 - $100,000+ annually

Compensation will be based on experience, certifications, technical expertise, productivity, and overall contribution to the growth of our service division.

Exceptional candidates with extensive solar service experience, advanced certifications, and battery storage expertise are encouraged to apply.

Service Area

Our office is located in Richardson, Texas, and we serve customers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The majority of our projects are located within approximately a 60-mile radius of the center of DFW, allowing technicians to remain local while serving a broad customer base.

Position Overview

This is not an entry-level solar technician position.

We are seeking a highly qualified solar service professional capable of independently diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, commissioning, and maintaining residential and light commercial solar systems.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable handling both technical field work and professional communication with homeowners, roofing contractors, solar contractors, project managers, and internal operations staff.

You will serve as one of PV National's primary technical resources for solar service operations.


Core Responsibilities

Solar Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose system performance issues
  • Troubleshoot communication failures
  • Identify inverter, optimizer, microinverter, wiring, and monitoring issues
  • Perform electrical testing and verification
  • Interpret single-line diagrams and system documentation
  • Identify code violations and installation deficiencies


Solar System Repairs

  • Replace inverters
  • Replace combiner boxes
  • Replace power optimizers
  • Replace microinverters
  • Repair AC and DC wiring issues
  • Repair communication equipment
  • Correct grounding and bonding deficiencies
  • Perform warranty-related service work


Preventative Maintenance

  • Rooftop inspections
  • Wire management corrections
  • Conduit corrections and improvements
  • Junction box repairs and replacement
  • Mechanical attachment inspections
  • General solar system maintenance and performance optimization


Battery Storage Systems

  • Design battery retrofit solutions
  • Install battery backup systems
  • Commission battery systems
  • Troubleshoot battery-related issues
  • Work with Enphase, SolarEdge, and other energy storage technologies


Technical Consulting & Client Support

  • Provide technical guidance to roofing contractors
  • Support project managers and service coordinators
  • Answer technical questions regarding existing solar systems
  • Assist with project planning and service recommendations
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences


Documentation

  • Complete service reports
  • Document findings and recommendations
  • Provide detailed photos and field notes
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed


Required Qualifications

Must Have

  • Current Texas Journeyman Electrician License
  • Minimum 3 years of residential solar experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic experience
  • Ability to work safely on rooftops
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Clean driving record
  • Reliable personal vehicle suitable for daily travel throughout the DFW Metroplex
  • Professional communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision


Platform Experience

Candidates must have significant experience with:

Preferred Qualifications

  • NABCEP Certification(s)

Candidates must have a reliable personal vehicle for travel throughout the DFW Metroplex.
