Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a skilled Soft Goods Technician to join our growing team in Cedar Park, TX. In this role, you will fabricate, assemble, and repair soft goods components, including engine insulation blankets and other heat-resistant textile materials used in flight parts. Your expertise in sewing, patternmaking, and fabric manipulation will directly support mission-critical projects that are defining the future of aerospace exploration and commercial space travel.
Key Duties:
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair soft goods components from a variety of aerospace-approved materials.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions to produce high-quality textile products.
  • Operate industrial sewing machines, sergers, and other specialized equipment.
  • Utilize automated CNC fabric cutting tables for material preparation.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare patterns and materials according to precise tolerances.
  • Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve fabrication challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for soft goods manufacturing processes.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company procedures.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • Technical training, formal certification in sewing/textile fabrication, or completion of an apparel or textile program preferred.
  • 2 or more years of experience in sewing, soft goods fabrication, or upholstery (aerospace or automotive industry experience is a plus).
  • Proficiency with industrial sewing equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and blueprints.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Experience fabricating insulated blankets, covers, or other soft goods for aerospace, automotive, marine, or industrial applications.
  • Familiarity with technical textiles such as fiberglass, silica, Kevlar®, Nomex®, carbon fiber fabrics, or other heat-resistant materials.
  • Experience creating, modifying, or working from patterns, templates, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency operating CNC fabric cutting tables or automated cutting equipment.
  • Knowledge of adhesives, binding, edge finishing, and reinforcement techniques used in technical textile fabrication.
  • Experience performing dimensional inspections and documenting quality results in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement principles.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot sewing or fabrication issues while maintaining production schedules.
  • Experience working in an AS9100, ISO 9001, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable using measuring tools such as rulers, calipers, tape measures, and templates to verify finished products.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to document work performed and navigate manufacturing software or digital work instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve fabrication challenges.
