The Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for technical support of various complex applications

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide SRE production support for Mainframe applications, APIs, Web Services, and Microservices.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, outages, batch failures, API failures, performance issues, and integration problems.
  • Support Mainframe technologies including z/OS, MVS, CICS, MQ, DB2, COBOL, JCL, TSO/ISPF, Easytrieve, IBM Utilities, SORT, FileAid, Xpediter, ChangeMan, AbendAid, and related tools.
  • Monitor and manage batch processing using scheduling tools such as Zeke, Zena, CA7, Control-M, or equivalent.
  • Support and troubleshoot REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, API Gateways, Middleware platforms, and Microservices, including authentication, SSL/TLS, performance, and integration issues.
  • Support API modernization initiatives, including SOAP-to-REST migrations, API onboarding, production cutovers, and post-implementation stabilization.
  • Validate JSON/XML payloads, request/response mappings, and API data transformation issues.
  • Support API testing and troubleshooting using Postman, SoapUI, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar tools.
  • Work closely with Development teams during migration, deployment, cutover, and stabilization activities.
  • Build and enhance monitoring, alerting, dashboards, observability, and self-healing capabilities.
  • Utilize monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Azure Monitor, AppDynamics, CloudWatch, or equivalent.
  • Drive process enhancements, streamline communication, and optimize delivery through innovative practices from discovery to deployment.
  • Drive automation, eliminate operational toil, improve availability, and reduce recurring incidents.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), problem management, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Manage customer-impacting incidents, technical escalations, vendor engagements, and business communications.
  • Support production releases, deployments, change management activities, and post-deployment validation.
  • Maintain runbooks, knowledge articles, support documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, Development, Middleware, and Vendor teams to ensure system reliability and availability.
  • Coordinate with various teams to document production issues requiring code fixes and assist with validating and closing defects.
  • Support message-based integration technologies such as IBM MQ, Kafka, Event Hub, or similar enterprise messaging platforms.
  • Ensure adherence to SLA, SLO, availability, performance, and operational excellence targets.

Basic / Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree OR minimum 3 Years of related experience may be considered.
  • Mainframe support experience with z/OS, MVS, CICS, MQ, DB2, COBOL, JCL, and TSO/ISPF.
    • Experience supporting batch scheduling tools such as Zeke, Zena, CA7, Control-M, or equivalent.
    • Hands-on experience supporting REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, Microservices, and Middleware platforms.
    • Experience supporting API modernization and SOAP-to-REST migration programs.
  • Knowledge of JSON, XML, REST, SOAP, API Gateway technologies, and Microservices architecture.
    • Experience troubleshooting API failures, authentication issues, SSL/TLS certificates, performance bottlenecks, and integration failures.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, and Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • Hands-on experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Azure Monitor, AppDynamics, CloudWatch, or similar monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow and ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Major Incident Management processes.
  • Experience supporting cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.

Compensation Range:

57,000.00 - 113,000.00 USD Annual

The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
