Electrical Engineer โ€“ย Renewable Studiesย 

Entry Levelย 

About the Positionย 

As an entry levelย Electricalย Studiesย Engineerย in theย Renewableย Studiesย group,ย you willย be responsible forย performing engineering analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer.ย You will beย a part of an integrated design team andย are responsible forย coordinating with team members to meet projectย schedules and deliverables on time and within the defined budget.ย 

Salary Range:ย $85,000 - $105,000 / yearย 

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.ย ย 

Essential Responsibilitiesย 

  • Learn how to prepare computer-based models and performย power system studies on utility scaleย solar, wind,ย BESSย powerย plantsย and substationsย including short circuit, loadย flow,ย pre-energization harmonics,ย relay protection philosophy / relay settings, arcย flashย and other related studiesย 

  • Manageย timelyย execution of assigned tasksย and proactively communicate withย yourย supervisor if workload exceeds capacityย or capabilityย ย 

  • Communicate andย coordinateย with design teamsย to correctly model evolving design through a projectย design cycle.ย ย This includes all physical aspects of a project design that may affect the electricalย adequacy and reliability of the designย ย ย 

  • Review equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design and approvalsย ย 

  • Learn andย maintainย professional understanding of applicable Codes and Standards, andย typical design andย construction practicesย that mayย impactย design study resultsย 

  • Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communicationย pertaining toย specific assignments and meeting topicsย 

  • Maintains high ethical and professional standardsย 

  • Worksย additionalย time beyondย 40 hours/week to complete projects,ย proposalsย and/or administrative functions, asย requiredย 

  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes asย appropriate forย advancement and asย requiredย toย maintainย quality of workย 

  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelinesย 

  • Other job-related responsibilities as assignedย 

Must Haveย 

  • Education:ย Bachelorโ€™sย in electrical engineeringย from anย ABETย accredited institution, electric power option preferredย 

  • Basic understanding of key power systems concepts: per unit, 3-phase analysis, etc. Typically requires at least one power system class to be taken while at university.ย ย 

  • Experience:ย 0 โ€“ 1 years of relevant engineering or field experienceย ย 

  • Licensure:ย FEย is preferredย but not requiredย 

  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skillsย 

  • Good interpersonal and people skillsย 

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisย 

Nice to Haveย 

  • Experienceย with some power system software such asย EasyPower, ETAP, Powerย Factoryย SKM,ย PSSe, & PSCADย isย a plusย 

  • Proficiencyย in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer softwareย
