What we’re looking for:

Performs entry-level professional engineering work under close supervision, focusing on technical tasks such as testing, drafting, calculations, and lab procedures. Miscellaneous engineering functions.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Create test plans for every project and test case evaluated in the test lab. Each test plan should outline specific goals and requirements, include detailed timelines for completion, and provide documentation of results as evaluations are completed.
  • Prepare and install refrigerated display cases, along with various parts and materials, for evaluation.
  • Equip each test case, part, or material with the necessary data acquisition sensors.
  • Collect all relevant data for each test case to determine temperature and refrigeration load requirements.
  • Gather measurements and specifications for the materials and parts being evaluated.
  • Develop strategies to optimize product performance.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration systems to resolve existing issues with current designs and make recommendations for improving future designs.
  • Report findings after conducting a thorough analysis of the gathered data for each evaluation.
  • Collaborate directly with design, production, and customer service engineers during case testing to address issues related to performance, parts, and customer expectations.
  • Work closely with sales and design teams to ensure compliance with the requirements set by the Department of Energy (DOE), National Science Foundation (NSF), and Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Requires an Engineering Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred. (Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer)
  • Requires 0-2 years’ experience in a test lab or equivalent environment

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • Ability to define test plans, validate new products, collect data, establish facts, draw and report conclusions.
  • Ability to work with others as a team and individually on projects.
  • Ability to deal with complex factors and ideas to make decisions based on conclusions.
  • Maintain test lab and equipment in working conditions.
  • Understand electrical concepts and components.
  • Work with power tools.
  • Solid Thermodynamic concepts/knowledge.
  • Data acquisition equipment knowledge (LabVIEW/National Instruments).
  • 3D Modeling knowledge (SolidWorks).
  • Knowledge of lead manufacturing and 6 sigma.
  • Knowledge of creating schedules and executing them independently.

  • Must have strong mathematical knowledge, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas; various forms of precision measuring instruments, personal computer and computer software applications.
