Job description

Job Summary

The Mechanical & Plumbing Construction Division – Mechanical Project Manager - conducts all work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs. The Project manager will directly report to the SE&M Mechanical Division Operations Manager. The Project Manager will be expected to be proficient and perform the following duties:

  • Direct oversight and coordination with the overall management and execution of safety, quality, and efficiency requirements for assigned Mechanical Construction Division projects.
  • Procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracts as needed to conform to project specifications.
  • Conduct regular scheduled quality control walk downs and safety audits of assigned projects.
  • Provide and present detailed bi-weekly two-week look-ahead reports for all active projects assigned. Updates shall include estimated completion date, manpower, current activities, upcoming activities, milestones, and potential issues.
  • Manage financial performance while mitigating exposure to risk on assigned projects.
  • Complete and maintain monthly project financial reports.
  • Generate monthly project billings and work with SE&M Constructors, Inc. financial department for submission to customers.
  • Regularly forecast project costs and manpower for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate weekly with Mechanical & Plumbing Construction Division Coordinators for manpower needs on each assigned project.
  • Attend and participate in weekly SE&M Mechanical & Plumbing Construction Division manpower meetings to discuss, forecast, and manage department manpower needs for upcoming weeks.
  • Manage submittals, RFI’s, drawings, correspondence, and change orders for assigned projects.
  • Generate cost estimates for all project specific change orders.
  • Maintain all project records to ensure relevant information is documented and secured.
  • Develop positive business relationships while ensuring contractual compliance with all parties.
  • Resolve client concerns.
  • Provide leadership and support to field teams.
  • Lead project kick-off meetings with project team to convey project scope and close out meetings to review the positives and lessons learned.
  • Attend job-site weekly meetings for assigned projects.
  • Be proficient at interpreting engineering drawings for mechanical and plumbing construction.
  • Work in BIM models created by SE&M BIM Department.
  • Work in PlanGrid project management document manager.
  • Monitor and enforce current regulatory standards and company safety guidelines.
  • Help develop and maintain working relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Work as a team with other departments and company divisions.
  • Drive and be personally responsible for a Company vehicle that may have SE&M employees as passengers and job-related cargo/trailers..

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in mechanical project management for industrial, pharmaceutical, and heavy commercial MEP projects
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Proficiency in Trimble & Quote Soft estimating software(s)
  • Strong understanding of NC Mechanical & Plumbing Codes and industry standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, initiative-taking, and able to manage multiple assigned projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Work Conditions

  • Work Location(s): The Mechanical Project Manager will primarily work out of the SE&M Constructors, Inc. Raleigh Office. Position will require occasional travel to the Elm City, NC office for meetings or other work-related matters.
  • Work Week – The normal work week will be Monday through Friday 7:00am–5:30pm or whatever time commitment is required that week to fulfill job duties.
  • Follow all rules, protocols and procedures set forth by the Company, which may be in the form of handbooks, directives, memorandums, meetings, or other means as deemed appropriate by the Company.
  • Always maintain professionalism. Support all Company functions in a positive manner.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive Pay – Varies Depending on Experience Level
  • Bonus Incentive: Discretionary bonus issued annually based on the performance of the division.
  • Insurance: You will be eligible for the Company Insurance Plan. Reference the attached SE&M Constructors Benefits Plan for complete details/costs for the insurance plan, benefits, and explanation.
  • 401K Retirement Plan: SE&M Constructors offers a retirement plan. The employee is encouraged to participate in this plan by using payroll deductions upon eligibility per the plan documents.
  • Holidays/Personal Time Off/Vacation/Sick Days: All observed company holidays, (10) vacation days, and (5) sick days. Sick days are for the employee only and not family.
  • Mobile Phone: Employee will be issued a Company-owned mobile phone. Device is intended for business use only.
  • Computer & Tablet: Employee will be issued a Company-owned computer and tablet for business purposes. Computer/Tablet computers may be enabled for remote VPN access as deemed necessary.
  • Credit-Card – Employee will be provided with a Company credit card. The credit card is for business related use only. All charges are to be documented in accordance with Company standards.
