Job description

Position Summary:
The Communications Coordinator is a full-time position working some weekends and evenings to complement the work of the Marketing and Communications Department.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting with photography, video production, social media campaigns and content development. Assist with St. Xavier High School publications, as well as supporting the Director of Communications and Marketing with creative and content development. This position will also assist with Admissions, Advancement, Academics and Athletics.
The Coordinator must be comfortable interacting with members of the St. Xavier community and should be able to communicate in an articulate manner both in writing and speaking.
Employees work in service to a wide variety of divisions and departments in the creation and implementation of communications, marketing and public relations events, activities and materials. The office serves as the central hub in the management of the school's communications efforts, acting as an internal agency for the various internal partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and edit video productions
  • Provide photography at assigned events/photography management
  • Coordinate with institutional partners to create and post relevant, well-written, appropriate content for the website and social media
  • Coordinate a strategic social media presence and frequently monitor social media outlets for positive and negative comments or content
  • Assist the Communications Manager in the development of school publications - including the yearbook and St. X Magazine
  • Assist with Athletics media, content development and social media as directed
  • Other essential duties as assigned

Skills and Other Required Competencies:
The Communications Coordinator shall be a person who has a dynamic personality, is organized, technologically savvy, and engaging. Additionally,
  • Be a person with excellent interpersonal skills who is able to build and maintain cooperative, supportive and friendly relationships with staff members, and other constituents--a team player.
  • Have a demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms, publication design/layout, photography and video editing.
  • Possess superior writing skills and excellent verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think creatively, take initiative, offer solutions, prioritize multiple tasks and projects while working under specific deadlines.
  • Be a self-starter who thrives in a challenging, fast paced environment; is disciplined and takes personal responsibility for achieving results; be prepared to work evening and weekend hours as required.
  • Be committed to the spirit and principles of Catholic Jesuit education.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public affairs, journalism, communications, English or a related field.
  • Relevant experience working in the communications field.
  • Entry-level, 0-2 year's experience
