SAF-HOLLAND, Inc. is seeking an Engineer I to join our Powered Vehicle Systems (PVS) Engineering team in Muskegon, Michigan. This entry-level engineering role is designed to develop technical, analytical, and professional engineering skills through hands-on experience, product development activities, testing, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll gain exposure to real-world engineering challenges while supporting products and systems that help drive innovation across the commercial vehicle industry.


What You'll Do

In this role, you'll gain valuable engineering experience while contributing to projects that support quality, reliability, manufacturability, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering projects and product development activities under the guidance of senior engineers and engineering leadership.
  • Assist with engineering calculations, analysis, testing, validation, and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Create, update, and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, reports, and other technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and product development activities.
  • Support engineering change and product documentation processes, including Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and deviation requests.
  • Utilize CAD, engineering analysis, and business software tools to complete assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
  • Assist with product testing activities, data collection, and interpretation of results.
  • Analyze product and process performance data and recommend improvements related to quality, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Develop an understanding of engineering standards, customer requirements, manufacturing processes, and SAF-HOLLAND products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (or foreign equivalent) from a four-year college or university.

  • Exposure to manufacturing, testing, product development, or engineering project work preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, engineering principles, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD platforms preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new technical competencies.
