Position Summary

An Entry Level Project Designer is responsible for creating, reviewing, and supporting technical designs that meet customer specifications and internal manufacturing requirements. This role collaborates closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with production capabilities. This role will have ample training for those newer to the manufacturing and design industry!

The Project Designer supports projects from design through production and installation, contributing to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create and review technical drawings to ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal standards, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain job travelers to support accurate and efficient production execution.
  • Perform tolerance analysis on critical assemblies to ensure proper fit, function, and performance.
  • Meet with suppliers, customers, and project stakeholders to review designs and implement changes as required.
  • Modify and update designs to resolve operating, quality, or production issues.
  • Provide installation support as needed to ensure successful implementation of designed components or assemblies.
  • Attend team and project meetings to provide progress updates, coordinate with colleagues, plan next steps, and stay informed on emerging product lines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to JR Metal Works' quality, safety, and continuous improvement standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks software and technical drawing creation.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and assembly design.
  • Ability to interpret customer prints, specifications, and technical requirements.
