Job description

If you're 1-2 years into public accounting and thinking about what's next after busy season, this could be a strong next step.
Our client, a nationally recognized consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join their growing team and June 2025 start class. This firm partners closely with Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Real Estate investment firms, providing comprehensive support in launching funds and managing all aspects of fund administration.
In this role, the Senior Fund Accountant will collaborate directly with the Fund Controller, gaining exposure to the full spectrum of fund operations - including investment strategy, financial reporting, accounting, and investment analysis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to pivot from public accounting into a more forward-facing role within the investment services space. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and excited to join a fast-growing firm expanding its presence in the Chicago market.
Senior Fund Accountant Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client management, supporting investor reporting and maintaining investor relations
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reporting, including detailed cash flow and investment schedules across all managed funds
  • Manage month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and related financial processes
  • Conduct research and contribute to the development of strategies that enhance investment positioning and financial reporting practices
  • Support the Fund Controller in investment analysis, including financial modeling for fund launches and new investment opportunities
  • Deliver high-quality ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested by firm leadership

Senior Fund Accountant Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, ideally in fund administration, public accounting, or financial services
  • Solid understanding of investment accounting, financial reporting, and fund structures (Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Real Estate exposure a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting systems is a strong advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships with clients and internal teams
  • Self-motivated with a desire to grow within a fast-paced and expanding firm

Key Details
  • Compensation Budget: $70,000-$90,000 base salar
  • Schedule: 3 days in office
  • Benefits: Comprehensive healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision, EAP), competitive PTO, 401(k) match, parental leave, HSA contribution match, paid Calm app subscription, generous external learning and tuition reimbursement benefits, and access to Employee Resource Groups.

This is a unique opportunity for a driven accounting professional to work closely with investment firms, contribute to high-impact financial decisions, and grow alongside a dynamic, national team. If you are interested in the Senior Fund Accountant opportunity and fit the requirements, please apply today.
Thank you,
