Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to join our plaintiff's personal injury practice. The ideal candidate must be comfortable managing a high-volume caseload from inception through settlement and litigation, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.

  • Must be a self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work directly with an attorney on a one-on-one basis with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of independently managing a high-volume caseload from inception through settlement and litigation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and client relations skills.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues, meet deadlines, and move cases forward efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage approximately 100 personal injury files from intake through settlement, arbitration, and litigation.

  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with clients regarding case status, treatment updates, and litigation developments.

  • Draft and file pleadings, complaints, motions, discovery demands and responses, case management orders, and other litigation documents.

  • Prepare and organize medical records, billing records, and damages documentation.

  • Coordinate service of process and monitor deadlines for responsive pleadings.

  • Schedule and coordinate depositions, independent medical examinations, arbitrations, mediations, and court appearances.

  • Prepare settlement packages and assist attorneys with settlement negotiations.

  • Maintain accurate case management records and ensure compliance with all court deadlines.

  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, witness coordination, and exhibit organization.

  • Review incoming correspondence and discovery and take appropriate action to advance cases.

  • Communicate with insurance adjusters, medical providers, courts, and opposing counsel as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of personal injury litigation experience required.

  • Demonstrated experience handling personal injury matters from inception through settlement and litigation.

  • Strong knowledge of New Jersey civil litigation procedures and court filing requirements.

  • Experience drafting complaints, motions, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.

  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, case management software, and electronic NJ court filing systems.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with plaintiff-side personal injury litigation.

  • Familiarity with motor vehicle accident, premises liability, and general negligence claims.

  • Experience preparing cases for arbitration, mediation, and trial.
