Job Summary

The PACS/RIS Administrator manages daily operations and improves work processes in Diagnostic Imaging. They handle applications supporting Diagnostic Imaging operations.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Demonstrates basic level knowledge of concepts, standards, procedures and equipment.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations and integrity of Imaging based applications & devices including image workflow, equipment and other related activities.
  • Works closely with Imaging personnel to ensure complete DICOM data capture into PACS. Also ensures network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions handling in all necessary applications promptly.
  • Provides system administration support to departmental managers. Generates statistical reports on utilization, compliance, and other metrics.
  • Performs, as needed, charge capture reconciliation, requesting new procedure codes and ensuring correct charges are applied to accounts.
  • Implements and conducts user training programs.
  • Provides technical and problem-resolution support. Offers first-line application support to all end users. Diagnoses system hardware, software, network, and user faults.
  • Serves as a liaison between users, vendors and IT.
  • Ensures system efficiency and security.
  • Provides after-hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call support on a rotational basis to multiple facilities or as needed.
Key Success Factors
  • Thorough knowledge of the radiology department processes is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Availability outside normal business hours. Able to take call, if required.
  • Able to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.
  • Able to provide services timely, accurately, and cost-efficiently in compliance with system standards, policies and procedures.
  • Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of EPIC Radiant, Visage PACS, Nuance PowerScribe, TeraRecon, PenRad and other imaging applications.
