Job Title:Assistant Professor of PsychologyDepartment:PsychologyJob Description:The Psychology Department at Rhodes College invites applications for an assistant professor position beginning Fall of 2027. This position contributes to the interdisciplinary Neuroscience program, with teaching commitments split between Psychology and Neuroscience. Area of specialization within the field of neuroscience is open, although preference will be given to candidates with training in cognitive, clinical, or developmental neuroscience. Teaching responsibilities will be split between psychology and neuroscience and will include five courses/labs per year (labs count as a full teaching involvement) including an upper-level neuroscience course and lab in the applicantโ€™s area of expertise and introductory courses in both psychology and neuroscience. The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching and research at a liberal arts college. Rhodes College believes that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as an institution, and we seek to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. Rhodes faculty have access to a variety of equipment, including a wireless EEG system, an eye tracker, and an NSF-funded state-of-the-art motion capture system. Research will be supported by start-up funds and lab space, and possibilities for additional research support include summer research funds and travel funds. In addition, opportunities for collaborative research are available through our partnerships with St. Jude Childrenโ€™s Research Hospital, University of Memphis, University of Tennessee Medical School, and Le Bonheur Childrenโ€™s Hospital. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in an appropriate subdiscipline of psychology or neuroscience by July 2027.Rhodes is a nationally ranked residential college committed to the liberal arts and sciences.
