Job description

Emergency Department Registration Specialist

Schedule: 7PM – 7AM OR 7AM - 7PM (Rotating Schedule)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly adaptable and detail-oriented Emergency Department Registration Specialist to join our fast-paced ER team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely patient registration while supporting front-line operations in a high-acuity environment. The position involves cross-training across multiple areas of the Emergency Department, requiring strong communication, quick thinking, and a patient-centered mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Front Desk Operations

  • Check in patients arriving through the Emergency Department entrance
  • Collect and verify identification and insurance information
  • Provide assistance to patients and visitors, including stepping away from the desk when needed
  • Collaborate with hospital security and police to maintain a safe environment
  • Welcome and track visitors and family members within the system

Ambulance Bay

  • Register patients arriving via ambulance
  • Monitor and respond to incoming radio communications (e.g., stroke alerts, trauma cases)

Floor Support

  • Respond to overhead paging systems for incoming patient registrations
  • Act quickly to identify patients by gathering information from available sources (e.g., personal belongings, EMT staff)
  • Ensure timely and accurate patient registration in urgent situations

Computer & Administrative Tasks

  • Utilize the registration board to track patient status, registration needs, and insurance verification
  • Maintain accurate, real-time data entry regarding patient information, visit details, and discharge status
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate data entry skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
