Job description

General Overview
Telemetry & Communications Systems, Inc. (TCS) is seeking an experienced and technical Mechanical Engineer to lead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of our telemetry antenna measurement systems.
The successful candidate will work with a team of fellow RF engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers and program management to design mechanical components and assemblies based on instruction from senior engineers. Research methods of manufacturing to help reduce costs and build time for mechanical components.
This position is to be filled onsite in Chatsworth, CA. No employer visa sponsorship is available.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate, as a minimum, should exhibit proven capabilities in the following:
  • Capable of reading and creating mechanical drawings using GD&T standards
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software
  • Make assembly instructions for technicians to follow
  • Complete projects by training and guiding technicians
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure designs are manufactured properly
  • Searching for new or alternate parts for implementation in mechanical systems
  • Create and maintain a detailed database to catalog products and component parts
  • Running tests and creating test procedures for various mechanical and RF components
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues within mechanical systems
  • Work with engineers of various disciplines to create cohesive designs
  • Develop mechanical products by studying customer requirements as well as interfacing with customers
  • Assist with and attend Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews for each project
  • Travel to military and private sector customer sites both domestic and international for site surveys and acceptance testing (US citizenship is desired)

Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or higher with 0-2 years experience
  • Proficiency with Solidworks CAD software
  • Strong critical thinking and hands on skills
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position will be working directly on a contract with the U.S. Government which requires all employees performing these functions to be U.S. Citizens.

Compensation
  • Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000 annually (based on experience)
