Job Title: Machine Operator
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $20 - $29 Hourly - Based on Experience

About Us: Formerly known as Thomas Engineering Company now called R&M High Speed Stampings is part of the Arise Industrial Manufacturing family and was founded in 1962. Our 90,000 sq. ft. manufacturing building is located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. We specialize in high-quality, close-tolerance micro-miniature top medium sized metal stampings and assemblies to a wide range of industries and markets. We offer rapid prototyping, tool design and construction, ranging from simple stamping dies to complex progressive stamping and forming dies.
Job Overview: A machine operator in manufacturing is responsible for operating and maintaining machines that shape, cut, or form materials like metal into specific parts or products. They ensure that the machines run smoothly, monitor the production process, make adjustments as needed, and perform quality checks on the finished products to meet specifications. Press operators also follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor manual and automatic punch presses to fabricate precision metal stampings.
  • Inspect parts for surface imperfections, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to workmanship standards.
  • Follow and update manufacturing process sheets, blueprints, and verbal/written instructions.
  • Check auxiliary equipment for proper function and ensure proper lubrication of tooling.
  • Maintain production rates and product quality according to company standards.
  • Change coils of material, start strips, unload rewinds, and transport parts to the next operation or staging areas.
  • Remove, transport, and store tooling properly after use.
  • Keep the work area clean by shoveling scrap, mopping floors, and cleaning machines at the end of production runs.
  • Notify the Team Leader of any unusual equipment or operating issues.
  • Use micrometers, vernier calipers, fixed gauges, material handling equipment, optical comparators, and hand tools.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Complete required paperwork and reports accurately and on time.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and required.

Qualifications:
  • We're looking for candidates who have the foundation to succeed - whether you're an experienced operator or more entry level and ready to develop your skills. We will train the right person!
  • Good communication skills, multi-tasking skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the basics of progressive tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job packets.
  • Proficient in the use of calipers, micrometer, protractor, height gage, gauge pins and drop through gauges.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Perform physical actions which may include frequent bending, twisting, reaching, walking, consistent standing, and the ability to lift/carry and push/pull objects
