The FLOATER will control the flow of work in and out of an assigned area to complete and get orders to customers shipped on time. This position must ensure that all work is performed to the customer’s reasonable expectations with superb quality standards and in a timely and efficient manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:

  • Adheres to the job expectations based on the department working in.
  • Float to departments according to production needs – assist in areas like passivation, laser etch, shipping, deburring, machine operator, office, etc.
  • Be able to read and demonstrate a comprehension of a blueprint's dimensions, tolerances, as well as surface finish call outs required for parts.
  • Completes all paperwork correctly, and by order of the router and/or delivery date.
  • Examines cleaned objects to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

In Second Operations:

  • Operates pencil air grinder, pedestal deburring wheel, drill press, tumbler capable, 6” & 1” belt sander, sand & glass bead blaster, and microscope.
  • Uses hand tools such as deburring knives chamfer tools, sheet sandpaper and files to finish parts.
  • Be able to use a digital or dial caliper, mic 0-1”, gauge pins, thread gauges and the comparator/shadow graph.
  • Dries objects.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years manufacturing experience is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Can problem solve and has ability to think independently.
  • Must pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use hand tools is a plus.
  • Show initiative in work by being a self-starter, suggesting new ideas for completing a job, giving input as to how to improve the efficiency of a job, and organizing work time in order to complete jobs in a timely matter.
