At Deloitte Tax, you will help clients analyze the tax effects of complex decisions, reduce overall tax rates, and support business goals. You will work with teams and clients on complex tax matters, apply research and technology, and develop practical solutions across a range of tax services.

Work you'll do

As a Tax Consultant on the Deloitte Tax team, you will be responsible for supporting clients with tax planning, compliance, and controversy matters.

  • Research tax law and draft technical memoranda, opinions, and other written analyses.
  • Evaluate the tax implications of transactions, positions, and business decisions.
  • Support audit defense efforts by preparing responses, issue documentation, and assisting with formal appeals.
  • Prepare business and individual federal, state, and other tax returns and forms.
  • Prepare income tax provisions in accordance with Accounting Standards Codification 740 (ASC 740) and support tax provision reviews, including analysis of uncertain tax positions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and expected to graduate by Summer 2027 or have completed Juris Doctor (JD) degree or higher in Taxation, Accounting, or a related/equivalent program 
  • Strong academic track record (3.0 cumulative GPA required) 
  • Bar exam eligibility before beginning full-time employment 
  • You must reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required. You can expect to co-locate on average 2-3 times a week with variations based on types of work/projects and client locations 
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve 
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available 
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment 
  • Availability to start in Summer 2027

Preferred:

  • Coursework, concentration, or advanced study in taxation
  • Internship or work experience in tax, accounting, legal research, or a law firm
