What We Need
  • The Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution and maintenance of Chelten House's food labeling and regulatory compliance programs.
  • This role reviews and maintains product labeling, packaging artwork, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, nutritional information, certification documentation, customer submissions, and regulatory records to ensure compliance with FDA regulations (21 CFR), applicable federal and state requirements, customer expectations, and third-party certification standards.
  • The Regulatory Compliance Specialist serves as a technical resource for labeling compliance and product documentation while supporting new product commercialization, formula changes, packaging revisions, supplier updates, and certification activities.
  • Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, sound regulatory judgment, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate across multiple departments while maintaining high standards of regulatory accuracy.
  • Reports directly to the Regulatory Compliance Manager and partners closely with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to support regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

What You Will Do
Labeling Compliance & Regulatory Support
  • Review product labels, ingredient statements, packaging artwork, nutritional information, allergen declarations, and label claims for compliance.
  • Support compliance with FDA food labeling regulations (21 CFR), federal, state, customer, and certification requirements.
  • Identify potential regulatory concerns and communicate findings to the Regulatory Compliance Manager.
  • Support evaluation of formula, ingredient, supplier, and packaging changes for regulatory impact.

Product Documentation Management
  • Maintain regulatory databases and product documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records including:
    • Ingredient declarations
    • Allergen statements
    • Nutritional information
    • Product specifications
    • Customer-specific documentation
    • Required regulatory statements and disclaimers
  • Ensure documentation is current, organized, and audit-ready.

Packaging Review & Commercialization Support
  • Support regulatory review of new product packaging prior to commercialization.
  • Review packaging artwork to verify:
    • Ingredient declarations
    • Allergen statements
    • Nutrition Facts Panels
    • Label claims
    • Required regulatory disclosures
  • Partner with Product Development, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, and Quality during product launches and packaging changes.

Certification & Supplier Documentation
  • Maintain documentation supporting certification programs including:
    • Organic (QAI)
    • Non-GMO
    • Kosher
    • Gluten-Free
  • Maintain supplier documentation supporting ingredient and regulatory compliance.
  • Track documentation updates resulting from supplier or ingredient changes.

Customer & Regulatory Support
  • Maintain customer portal submissions and regulatory documentation for finished products.
  • Support responses to customer inquiries regarding labeling, ingredients, allergens, nutritional information, certifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Support regulatory and certification audit activities.

Regulatory Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist supports monitoring of regulatory developments including:
  • FDA labeling regulation updates
  • Food allergen regulations
  • Nutrition labeling requirements
  • Customer specification changes
  • Certification standard revisions
  • Industry best practices

What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or related scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience working in the food industry with exposure to labeling and regulatory compliance
  • Working knowledge of:
    • FDA Food Labeling Regulations (21 CFR)
    • Ingredient and allergen labeling requirements
    • Nutrition Facts Panel requirements
    • Label claims and declaration requirements
    • Federal, state, and customer labeling requirements
  • Experience maintaining regulatory documentation and product specifications
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with TraceGains or similar specification management systems preferred
  • Familiarity with Organic (QAI), Non-GMO, Kosher, Gluten-Free, and National Organic Program requirements preferred
  • Strong organizational, documentation, analytical, and project management skills

Pay Range: $80,000 - $85,000 per year
